English Wildlife Law

The links below are to various Acts of Parliament and case histories relating to animal welfare and, in particular, swan welfare.

The information is intended as a reference database for use primarily by the police and animal welfare authorities in their prosecution of animal/swan welfare offenders.

Please note that you may need to enlarge some of the article images in order to be able to read them. In Internet Explorer this is done by pointing the cursor at the image in the newly-opened window and pressing the image enlargement button that appears. If this doesn't work then copy the image to your own computer by pointing your cursor at it, pressing the right-hand button on your mouse, and selecting "Save Target As...". Once saved you can use your photo handling software (such as Microsoft Photo Editor which comes with Windows 98 as standard) to view it using the magnifier feature or to print it (remembering to use the fit-to-page option if necessary) - simply find the saved image with Windows Explorer and double-click it with your mouse to activate your preferred photo-handling software.
